About us

Our farm journey began long before we ever dreamed of Morning Glory Acres. It’s rooted in Troy’s grandparents, who first raised dairy cows, then beef cows, and passed down the rhythms of farm life through the generations. Troy grew up baling hay and always hoped to carry those traditions forward.

Our own chapter began with a miniature horse named Eli, and our daughter’s dream came true the day she brought home her very first horse. From there, the farm simply kept growing. Two Katahdin hair sheep joined us, followed by our first brood of chicks. One year, our youngest son was gifted a pair of ducks from his great-grandmother, and the barnyard chorus multiplied and grew a little louder for a while.

Over time, our daughter added a quarter horse, a miniature mare who later gave birth to a colt, and another mini to the mix. For a few years, we even hosted a Highland bull and a cow that delivered a bull calf. Around that same time, we added a lively flock of guineas — the farm’s
unofficial alarm system — who patrolled the property with plenty of personality while they were here.

After the Highlands moved on, we welcomed a Holstein calf we bottle‑fed and raised with lots of love.

Our herd expanded again with a brother‑and‑sister pair of Nigerian Dwarf goats, and since then we’ve added a few females — and, of course, Willy, our wonderfully stinky buck. Our chicken adventure has evolved too, especially with fun specialty breeds like Silkies. We lovingly call them “popcorn chicken” because of the way they sound when they chatter together.

And, how did a trip to get some free items from Craigslist end with a few odd pasture mates for a cow--a miniature donkey and a hinny. And, another mini vacation lead us to adopt three little pigs. Through it all, we’ve had no shortage of pampered barn cats supervising the place and keeping us company.

Over the years, many animals have been part of our story — some for a season, some for many years — and each one helped shape the farm we are today.

Morning Glory Acres is the result of small beginnings, big hearts, and a whole lot of animals who became part of our family. We’re grateful to share that story — and this space — with you.
